Isn't it strange how time passes? Today, many old school rap music CD's are seen as oldies music CD's by the up-and-coming generation. Although I was only a baby when old school rap music was around, I've learned to appreciate the artists of that time. I often listen to various oldies station that feature rap music CD's from the past. I'm personally more of a fan of old school rap music CD's from the late 80's to early 90's, especially when comparing that music to what the present day has to offer. Here are my reasons why I feel old school rap music CD's are superior to today's rap music CD's.
- You could actually understand the lyrics to most rap music CD's from the past. They spoke slower and therefore, you could follow what they were saying
- Because rappers were more comprehensible, the lyrics were more clever
- Rap music CD's from the past often maintained a structure (ex. rhyming)
- You could even compare rap music CD's to poetry
- The beats were more simplistic and I found that more enjoyable than the over cluttered music of today
