Though at one time, they were one of the most innovative and tuneful of all rock bands, at this late date, geezer rockers Genesis have fallen out of favor with younger audiences, though Phil Collins seems to be omnipresent these days, what with his songs being featured in films like Disney's animated Tarzan and so on. In fact, Collins has toured so much and put out so many banal, mediocre albums, he is in danger of trashing the legacy of really good oldies music CD albums that Genesis put out in their heyday, such as The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. But if you want a good oldies music CD, then you could do worse than pick up the new Genesis live album. The Billboard.com website features an article by writer Jonathan Cohen that opines, "Genesis takes a trip down memory lane on "Live Over Europe," which chronicles the first portion of the band's reunion tour. Due Nov. 20 via Atlantic, the double-disc set includes a number of songs the band hadn't performed in decades. Even if you're sick of Phil Collins, like I am, this is one oldies music CD worth checking out.
